It's Trad Dad!
The Barber Bilk and Ball Stars play music by Chris Barber, Acker Bilk and Kenny Ball plus Terry Lightfoot, Alex Welsh, Humphrey Lyttelton and more!
Before The Beatles Britain was Trad mad and our concert celebrates the music of the late ’50s and early ’60s when the sound of Dixieland was adapted in a uniquely British way to create a happy, upbeat swinging style featured in hits such as I Love You Samantha, You’re Driving Me Crazy, Stranger on the Shore, Midnight in Moscow, March of the Siamese Children, Bad Penny Blues, Tavern in the Town, Petite Fleur and In A Persian Market.
The seven-piece band led by trombonist Ian Bateman features a group of musicians who worked extensively with the big stars of the Trad era and continue to keep the music alive with their superb playing and sheer love of the music.
